Hehe, what a clever title.
My question is this: does it matter if a static model goes through a brush - structural or detail?
I've done my whole map avoiding brush merging and it just goes against the grain to allow this kind of thing. But I know patch meshes and LOD are okay to merge so, for instance, can I have a hedgerow brush with lots of bush static models hidden in it to give some foliage?
Thanks.

bushes in brushes
Mapping is just INCREDIBLY time consuming.
The Hunt
You only have to look at the spawn area for the Allied team in "The Hunt" map to know the answer to your question. Yes, you can overlap models with brushes. Just make sure the moving branches of a bush or tree do not pop in and out of sight as it moves--that would look funny.
