i gotta restore my site, add maps and models and skins. BUT, i'm a poor web designer. i know html and dhtml, but the prob is i just don't have ideas on how to build a site. can anyone help me???

take ideas from other sites... If you need a forum use phpbb www.phpbb.com

basically make sure your site isn't crowded, easy to navigate, easy to show your news updates, basically so the person who visits your site can easily get where he/she needs to go.

Then the last thing is to make a color scheme that suits you and the theme of you website.

ie if your site is about worshiping the devil himself then maybe you want your color scheme to be a black white and a blooddy type.. lol ...

All web designers know that as soon as thier work goes on-line it can be copied and used by anyone. So, all you need to do is find a site that you like and copy the source code. Then just adapt/improve it to your needs. It is polite to ask before you steal it.

Use tables. If you're sick of tables, use layers. If you don't know what to do, tables and layers. If you hate those both, go nooby time and use frames. If you dont want to be nooby, but want to add a sense of sophisticate, use iFrames. If you're afraid the person won't be able to see the iFrames, use tables that don't overflow their height, but just make another page pertaining to that topic. Example - PMoH Guild.com

Or just get someone to make a site, and start getting ideas from it.

Oh, and don't use too many moving things. Like mouse trailers, marquees, and all that stuff. Keep everything as still as possible, and keep the navigation bar in a nice spot, on the top side or the top is usually preferred. And I just got a nice site idea..

But dont pay someone to do it! I'm sure someone from .map will do it for free (I would, but i'm sure others would aswell).

My dad payed ?150 to get site designed and it was rubbish and I could have done better for free. Then they ripped him off and made him pay ?150 a month for his domain name. What? thats $200 + $200! I got a site for free made myself, then $20 for a whole year with doteasy, no banners or links, and he still had to put a link on his site!
