about lod

Post by LT.BARNES »

hi

ok i know this has been answered somewhere sometime ago but i always have troubles with dam LOD.

ok the question is...

1) when i add a bunker onto a lod. i want to delete some of the lod so the bunker can go in the lod. u know what i mean.

like u have a tarrain and when u put a trench on the tarrain u want to delete some of it so the bunker will be in it.

2) when i play around the how high/low i want the tarrain to be, when i have done that, i can't move no objects, so i have to restart mohaa radient?

1. Press shift + f to open the "edit facet flags menu. Then hold ctrl + shift (like when texturing) and click the facets you want to delete, then check delete.

You may need to adjust the size of the bunker, or use brushes / patch meshes to fill in any gaps.

2. Did you press escape a couple of times to de-select the veticies and exit the vertex mode.

I have a similar problem to question 1, but when i try your answear out i cant delet the selected patches.

This leaves me to conclude that im doing somthing major wrong, or minorly, and so was wondering if the explanation could be taken 1 step further plz :)

The Angex technique works for me, I am not sure but I was thinking that maybe your hitting Delete on your keyboard instead of checking the delete box in the facet editor.

This is exactly what it is I am doing:

1. Press Shft+F
2. Hold Shft+Cntrl and select a mesh/facet thing (whatever its called)
3. Tick the Delete box
4. Select done
5. Scratch head and try again

I think I may have got it :)

The deleted facets still show in radiant but will amazingly disappear when you compile :)

I forgot to mention this: there's an option in the lod terrain menu called colour surface flags make sure this is checked so you can see the difference in radiant. The deleted facets should appear partially transparent, but they will be totally removed in-game.
