No Clue what is going wrong

Post by hititonthehead »

I started making this simple room with a spawn point and a light, like the tutorial that comes with the program says to do. I complie it and there is seems nothing to be wrong with it. But when I try to run the map all it does is the area around the compas turns red and the everything starts to slow down, and when I select a team and weapon it starts giving me one of those I mouse tail looks, were you can see the previous positions. I tried adding info_allied and info_axis hoping that would work. but it didn't.

Again I followed the tutorial the way I was suppose to do. and I'm guessing that there is no tutorial problem since other people used it and had no problems. I don't know what is wrong. Its suppose to be a simple room with a spawn point and a light.

Help!

Sounds like you spawn outside of the room and there is no skybox outside it.... Hard to say...

if its mp, you need an info_player_start, >player_axis, and >player_allied

tried the two things that both of you mentioned, it doesn't work. it has the spearhead loading screen and then right at the end of loading it makes a noise and like the done noise and then shows the compas and other in games stuff and still has the loading bar like it is frozen but it is removing a little of the red and adding it back.

I have spearhead. I already tryied making the room bigger, but it still happens, and yes the spawns are in the room. I actually looked at the complier stuff closer, I use mbuilder, it says that info_player_start (something like that) and info_player_allie and info_player_axis leaked. Could that be the problem and if so how do I fix?

Make sure the walls of your room do not overlap each other and have no cracks to the outside (void). Also place the spawn spots a little "above" the floor. Get new textures for the room brushes from "general_industrial".

If you select "Pointfile..." from the file menu after compiling, you should get a red line from the void into the map where the leak is. Are the player_start or any other sticking into the walls?
Can you sow us a picture from Radiant?

I used the pointfile and I made sure that nothing was being overlapped.

Now I get into the room and able to see the walls, I still get that mouse delay look, where you can see where the gun or whatever used to be.

And now there are defintly no more leaks, it just to get rid of the where it been looked.

Any ideas?

Put a big box around the room and give it a sky texture.
