=S|a|S= Hosting a weekly Bot night.

Post by Jb »

Since this site and its community is on the up and up with mapping scripting and the lovely bots. I decided this would be the best place to get some feedback.

I am one of the server admins for the =S|a|S= clan server. And jv's bots have gotten a mixed review from our guys. But with that said I LOVE um.

So I was thinking about setting aside a couple hours a week for nothing but bot maps. Lakeside/opcenter/and ABTF.

Our server is dedicated and holds 20. The ip is 65.60.32.20:12205

Please post if you would be interested in filling up a server and playing some bot maps with us.

If I get enough posts i'll set a date and time for all us bot fanatics to go at it every week.

I came up with idea because everytime i look on game spy i can only find maybe one or 2 servers running bot maps and they are usually empty.

thanks for reading all that jibber jabber

I would try it out if the timeing is right and who cares how many real people so long as there are three or four non bots. Thats the fun of bots!

The server pings 200 for me so I guess I'm not a potential player. But if you are interested I can let you try out the vemork_facrory BOT map that is currently in version BETA ( until JV releases the 1.2 bots ).
Actually it would be a great chance for me to get some feedback on the map.

So PM me if you want to try it out.

Great idea!

Awesome.

I've been waiting for your bot map to be released.

I must have missed the link on your site.

Oh well.

Thanks for posting the link.

I cant wait to show the boys your map.

Now we will be able to play king tiger(love them tanks!)/Vermock/and all of sumos and jv's bot maps.

First, the map is beautiful! I love the glass on the doors. The sniper rifle on the wall was a nice touch. All the little details make it great.

I read your tutorial on Detail brushes. Your map is an excellent example of why they are a must have. The fps was very very good considering.

At first i was as lost as a 5 year old in a brothel. But then I realized i was being a goof becuase there where signs in each stairwell telling you what the main point of that level was. I.E. Distillery.

The update for the bots is awesome. I like how they are more liberal with there nade throws and can be aggressive when you camp. They swarm well and camp even better. I prefer putting our server to it limits and throwing a good 15ish bots in at a time.(with a low loopdelay)

One question. Do i need to remove the update before i play lakeside or opcenter or abtf? Because i dont want to crash server.

oh yea and Alkie i already cant wait!

No, but you will have to remove it when bot version 1.1 comes out

1.1 should be 1.2

I'm not going to be quik to call jv wrong. But our server has these extra files.

couple cfg's
jvbot01
update01 *
abtf
king_tiger
lakeside
opcenter new
vem factory
st lo
All the normal pak 3's

The bots get stuck in each other now that the update is in. Except on Vemock

Well, thats why "Vemork factory BOT" is not an official release yet ( This explains the lack of links to this map on my project page ). The update is just a quick and dirty fix that JV was kind enough to compile for me. Last I heard: an official release is under way. And it will contain some other goodies that he has cooked up for us. :D

So my aim is to release "Vemork factory BOT" in a new version that utilizes this new version shortly after its release.

And be sure to try the "Vemork approach" map. Version 0.3 is released, and I'm currently working on a completely re-made version, obtimized for more intense combat.
