I'm 25 and I dropped out of school twice during my teenage years. At the time I thought I could still learn at home, but I now see that it was lazyness, and lack of ambition. I had a few jobs before finally settling in a shipping/receiving job in a printing company, where I did pretty good.
While working there I got my high school degree. I then applied to university as a mature student and got accepted, so I took a leave of absence from work to try that. After returning to work I was undecided if I wished to remain at work or become a fulltime student. With two days left before the start of another academic year I resigned from my position to return to school.
This spring my cousin made me promise him that I would take one trip to the recruitng office, and I did that. I found everything the forces had to offer really enticing, so I completed the application process, and essentially got accepted into the Canadian Forces. Now I'm waiting for a opening in the trade I chose. I'll be returning to school until I'm called, and then I'll begin a career in the forces.
One thing that attracted me to the forces is the benefits they have for education. One is given $1000 a year to use towards education, and that builds up if unused. One recruiter I was talking too was working on his phd in history, while still in the forces, so that hooked me. The emphasis on education and upgrading is too good to pass up.
Sorry for errors, I'm only on my first coffee.

I am 16 I plan on going to university or college later after highschool... Currently working on setting up webhosting over the internet, (its moving slowly) doing it half with my mother, she helps me out with stuff that you need to be age of. Um After Highschool I plan on joining the Canadian FOrces, no wait just rememberd cant join canadian forces, I have german citizenship, and I am not willing to give it up to join the Canadian FOrces.. dont say get dual citizenship ive tried that already Germany and Canada dont seem to have a good relationship with that they forbid it...
So maybe the german forces, which I would love just as much, I can get free university in Germany too.... And it would be nice to live with my relatives in Germany.... Its a great place to live of what I know, so much liesure up there.... After the forces I plan well doing something with computers, what ever is the latest techno gadget then...
Oh and if I dont do that, going straight to university bachelor of science, then one year teachers college, then join the forces, then after 20 years when I retire with full pension become a science teacher..... and after 12 years get payed 80 thousand dollars a year, with full pension from forces 45 000 a year..
not sure what I exactly want yet, leaning different ways every word I type then again I'm 16.....

Well....I never really thought much about that growing up. Life throws you for so many loops that sometimes you forget what you once dreamed about. I guess the best I could remember would have been a pro basketball player. Basketball was my life which I dreamed, lived, ate, and so on...you get the picture.
Then I remembered that it would require that others think that im good and not just myself...lol ( Im really pretty good and still enjoy a good game of hoops).
So with that thought down the crapper, now it was time to dream about something real. I have always enjoyed designing stuff so I thought I would pursue Drafting with a focus on Mech. Drafting and pinning it down further to Injection Mold design or Mould depending on the country your from.
I have done that for 7 years and it has proven to be very stressful yet I have really enjoyed it.....go figure. But with the economy falling like it had this past year or two, that company was forced to downsize as we could not compete with the Chinese anymore and my job was no more. They have virtually wiped our industry away and the few Mold Shops left are surviving simply due to the consumers will to buy USA product.
Now after half a year trying to find a job which was still in my same career path I could not and had to take a job very vaguely related and am having a hard time seeing myself design again which is depressing but its simply another loop life threw me like I said so we will see where this goes.
I am debating to do design work on the side but the thought of coming home from work and then beginning my work on the side is very hard to look at with a
. In the back of my mind though I know I have dedicated to much time to simply drop it.
So I guess the career I would have like to have and the path that I did take where two totally different choices yet it has been a great ride so far
This new job which is not a career path will hopefully give me time to either keep pursuing design or something else...time will tell
