question about common textures

Post by williewisp »

In the texture, common, can someone tell me what some of them?
These 1?s do:

1. Dust
2. Foliage caulk
3. Fog
4. Grill clip
5. Hint
6. Light
7. Actor
8. Path
9. Path area
10. Puddle clip
11. Rain
12. Reflection
13. Skip
14. Sunblock
15. Weapon
16. White
Or if you could point me in the right direction of some info about them.
Thanks if you can.

I know what a few of them do:

foilage clip, grill clip etc, are similar to the clip texture except when shot they act like a certain material, i.e grill would be metal so you'd hear a "clink".

Actor, I think is titled monster which only clips AI characters, like playerclip only clips the player.

Hint, is used to create manual vis (I think, not sure).

Things like Dust, Foliage caulk, and Fog don't appear to have shaders so its likely they don't do anything.

[EDIT] If you go to this link http://www.qeradiant.com/manual/Q3Rad_M ... /pg7_1.htm and scroll to the very bottom, theres a heading called texture entities, which explains the basic Q3 common textures but nothing specific to MoH.

quake3 radiant manual

The Q3 Radient manual has some info on them. Here is the page:

http://www.qeradiant.com/manual/Q3Rad_M ... htm#tools4

The site below should be bookmarked because Mohaa uses the Quake3 game engine, and a lot of the info applies to our editor.

By the way, if you type "utility" in the text box at the top of the editor, you will see there are many more utility textures.

dust foliage and caulk (i think) are textures that never load when u save the map. many map makers put their whole map in caulk b4 adding the textures to get better fps. dust and foliage etc are like caulk but they mark stuff where future static can go. not useful for many of us lol, dust and plants arent easy to forget where they go.
