We are a really devoted team (yes im bloody serious), and we need your help.

Now, we really need help, cuz we only have one mapper so far (one more who's said maybe)
But this is a fairly big project.
Both Singleplayer and Multiplayer mode will be done.
I really hope i got some of you interested, but if you need mroe info, mail me or the others in the team, and we will be more than happy to answer them... :)

You do know that making big outdoor winter maps requires some specialized mapping skills? Your average mapper with his LOD terrain will be lucky to average 25 fps.

is it the lod terrain? i always thought the trees caused the bad fps

i think its all the dense trees. i get LOW fps in the sp mohaa winter maps.

i hate maps with trees. they lag like s***. anyway, is he an experienced mapper?

Actually, trees and LOD terrain cause performance problems in big outdoor maps. You can't block anything, so you have to reduce face count. EA's trees are 150 - 200+ faces and one section of LOD terrain is 256 faces. It doesn't take a math whiz to figure it out. You have to learn to make your own trees with lower face count and learn to use triangle brushes reduced complexity 3 x 3 mesh. For example< this map is 16k x 16k and 8k high:

I'm working on making a CTF version out of that map, if I can ever get all the bugs outta the CTF script.... :shock:
