compiling maps

when i try to compile my map using theat thing that dose it for you(MBuilder) i get this message

*******Error********
loadportals: couldnt read c:\games\mahaa~1\maps\killhousedouble.prt

and then the map wont load up... how do i fix this?

scroll up more in your compile log in the first section

and look for a error in cannot write the .prt file or look for **ERRORS** up there or

yea basically what it is is u have a leak (i had the same problem). go into MOHRadiant, and got to File : Pointfile. it'll show u where ur leak is so u can fix it. A leak is just like a whole in ur map, usually small, i lost part of my brain scratching trying to find mine, b4 i knew about pointfile lol.

So Basically leaks are gaps or holes in your skybox?

if you have a skybox yes...

but if its an indoor map and theres no outside a good quick fix is just to put a skybox around your map without no sky like caulk texture..

thanx very much.. i fixed it, i had an indoor map with no sky box so i think that was it.

you dont have to have a skybox around it ... really you should find the leak.. theres probably a small gap in one of your walls leading into the void..

(skybox a quick fix for indoor maps when using it use caulk texture to avoid compile times)

lol screw fixing it take the easy way out lol. though an undermap oppurtunity is never good. there are some leaks in stock maps though. theres one in remagen.

I thought leaks would be a little more complicated but I feel better now to know that they arent. I never had a leak before but I still asked just in case i do.
