Catching the Great White Land Shark

Post by Gen Cobra »

Ever seen a shark's eyes all black?... kinda like doll's eyes.

Alright. I think I have solved the landsharking in new maps with a simple trigger that kills instantly just under the surface of the ground beneith ladders. I tested it out and I died everytime.

I just used the simple tut here for damage and made the volume damage enough to kill a palyer instantly. This will be in all of my new maps. n I hope you consider it too because I don't know about the rest of you but I have had it up to my eye balls with lansharking. I also have a trigger that prints the name of the player and the fact that he/she is sharking. Tell me what you think?

I always say this. Make a big enought radius around the ladder. And make it like a foot bigger So that way you cany walk out of it but JUMP out of it. That way the snakers have no way out unless they go up the ladder again. (that seems easy). but nice job cobra

another great way to discourage cheaters is to make a very tight sky box

it helps vis and it makes it virtually impossible to get under the map

Maybe off, but sounds like it may tie back. I often die when I try to climb ladders. It just happens, and I don't understand it. Does it have to do with landsharking or anti-landsharking measures?

Hay all, I had this idea to ste up a mine field just under the map in the main areas of a map that would be sort of asleep until someone set of a trigger by landsharking. Maybe script it so that the console would warn you be for it was activated.

Something like "WARNING landshark detected. You have 30 seconds to resume play before mine feild activates" thought that was a cool idea. Just dont know if it would work or not.

I thought land sharking could only be done in older mohaa maps? can they do it in spearhead? I haven t seen any, but have heard about wall hacks, where folks run behind the walls, sound familier? How would one prevent this in custom maps?
