My First Map!

Post by 007craft »

Hi.. IM still a noob but I managed to pull off my first ever MOHAA map (with the help of lots of users on the forums). Im not quite done yet (about 90%) but i just wanted to know if any1 thinks it looks ok? Me and my buds have already played on it in a 5-player deathmatch and it was pretty damn fun. The level is designed EXACTLY like my house except larger to make it playable and a few not suppose to be areas (like the attic). I also made it so in the kitchen and every bathroom u can go in the cubords and hide. Since this map was designed after my house i went for accuracy and couldent be 100% createive. However it is still fun to play in. Now that im familiar with the editor im going to make a huge sniper level based on a golf course next and since it will be free design i can build anything. Anyway here are a few pics.

A good start . You might experiment with texture scale a bit and rotating the textures for the beams but I like it so far .

Looks reaiiy cool man. great job! 8-)

But as bdbodger said, work a little more on the texture scale and alignment, the texturing is just as important as the architecture to make a map look good ( and you already got good architecture ).

thanks...Im going to change the beams in the basement to a more woodish texture i found...Can any1 recomend a good wall texture for the main floors? I got the yellow texture going in the basement cause its suppose to be the insilation cause my basement has not been finished yet.

Camera

If you had a digital camera, you could take a picture of it and make a texture from that. There is a hay texture that might work, or a yellow grass testure with the scale turned way down (key S).
