Your dos compiler programs should be in just MOHAATools. How did they get in MOHAATools/radiant_ai_cfg?

Hey I got a question Tom or anyone else. I didnt want to open a whole new post so Im using this one. I have a map ok. It is called Hegendeau_France. When I try to compile it it does bsp ok then it goes to vis stage. Then I wait. It doesnt seem to be doing anything so I get mad and quit the compiler but I can still play because bsp stage got done. I want to know why it freezes up or am I just being impatient?

leak

Post by tltrude »

It depends on how large your map is for vis. You should see it doing the "cansee", "mightsee" thing, if you have it set on verbose. When it is doing that, the time left will popup every now and then--easy to miss it though.

If you want to just do it fast for testing, set it on fast. It also helps if you turn steps and ramps "detail" brushes--takes loger if there are small nooks and brushes cut at angles.

If there is a leak to the void, vis will try to compile that too.

Ok I will try turning it on fast to test it. but you said if I turn on that verbose thing it will tell me how much longer I gotta wait? And How would I turn that on? Thanks for answering my pm.you answered it fast!

Mbuilder

Post by tltrude »

There are three little windows in the top left of Mbuilder. If you click on the vis options change button, you will see the verbose check box, and one for fast. Don't use fast for the light compile option (looks bad), just leave that one blank until you want to do final lighting. Make the bsp option one verbose as well.

-v
-fast -v
(blank box)

You can make seperate logs for each step. Just click on "change" and type in the ">" symbol and the path to a text file.

-v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_bsp.txt

-fast -v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_vis.txt

> c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_light.txt

I have them going to the desktop so they can be trashed easily, after looking them over. Note: If you have Windows XP the path to the desktop will be different.

usually the compiler doesnt freeze, it just takes a long time on some parts. when i compiled maps, i would occasionally get stuck on like %14 on radiosity, and i'm like "wtf?" but then if you wait it eventually goes on.

Ok thanks. My compiler has never frozen before and this is the biggest map I have ever made. So I will just wait a long time. And I will try turning on verbose so I know how much longer. :)
