Fade in text help

Hey everybody, I'm trying to make those fade in screens like in omaha beach, and I just got photoshop, so I'm really a total n00b to the program... Anyway, I opened up the june6.tga file, and I've been scrambling all over this program, but I can't seem to figure out how do I change the June 6 text to something else?

The button with the big "T" is for text. But, it wont get rid of the original text in the image. That text is part of the image and has to be painted over. After you get the new text in there and moved (with the arrow button icon) to where you want it, click on layers/merge visible. The layers can be seen in the lower right of the screen.

lol it stuck June 6, 1944 to the back of my text... I figured it out thanks trude.
