little trouble with light

ya
i'm getting quite good at making maps now :D
but i have a question
when i make two room one next to the other and i make a light in one and none in the other, we c the light going under the wall into the next room
how to y remove that?
do i continu the wall so it goes a little through the floor??

I wont go into detail as to way the light shines in under walls, which it really doesn't, but never mind. The simple fix is to make your walls thicker. 16 units should do.

Now, this is not and option most of the time as a wooden wall for instance, just ain't that thick in real life. In that case you could try to make a cut in the floor brush so that you get two brushes, one on each side of the wall. This might however not always work.

Another fix is to change the density (lower values will give sharper shadows) of the ground surface. You do that in the Surface properties. Press 'S' as I'm sure you know, and you'll find a field for this in the lower right. Default value is 32, so for a 4 units thick wall you could try 8. Warning!!! this feature should be used with extreme care as the lightmap will get real big if one missuses this, and that could be a problem when it comes to performance.
