help with .tga

Post by Vic Marrow »

Alot of the textures in radiant are in .tga format. I want to alter some of them I have a cheap program that came with my printer called Corel photo house 5. I can't get .tga into the photo house 5. So I was wondering what software program I should get. I hear a lot of people talk about Photoshop 7. I saw this software and they want like $600.00 bucks for it! To much money for me. Can any one recomend a cheap software program that I can get .tga into and alter and not have to spend so much money?

Do you want to modify your .tga screens or convert them into JPG. For the last part, you can downloas IRFAN View. Simple, but effective.

How about Paintshop Pro ? Its a pretty accomplished program that will do all you need to do, open and save your tga's and you'll be able to paint on them all you want, I would imagine its not much more than $100.

You can download the 30 day trial version here http://www.jasc.com/download_4.asp?

Or theres a smaller version of Photoshop called Photoshop Elements, I know this is much cheaper than the full version though I have no clue if it handles tga's

Download trials of the Adobe progs here http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jhtml

I guess if you work quickly you can save out hundreds of new textures before it runs out, then start your photoshop trial, then the elements trial, I guess if you get all the image editor trials you could have 6 months of freebies, if you plan which day you start your trials on :)
