Morning all! I was making a new obj map and being new to this as I am I was wondering how to make staris. I know I can do it with multiple brushes but isn't that gonna lag? What is the easiest and most effective way to do this? Thanks in advance!
start at the top of where the starts go
make a stair 20 across by 16 high
set your grid to 16 and copy it
it will drop to the right height below the first one
and yes your going to have multiable setps
only way I know to do it
I may be wrong as im new to mapping meself but i do believe that you should make your stairs a detailed brush after making them,me thinks this cuts down on the demands of the comp, therefore ruducing lag.
Anyone pls feel free to correct me.
Also, make sure you use the NoDraw texture on all parts of the stairs that wont be seen. I usually made everything using the nodraw texture, then just select individual faces and texture them leaving everything else as NoDraw. This cuts down greatly on the faces that have to be drawn in the game.
see now i have the faces on all my brushes with a caulk thus makeing what u dont see invisable now is that as effective as the NODRAW or should i bee useing the nodraw for faces u cant see
i only use the nodraw for the flat trees and fences clue me in plz
I have to agree with da Rabbit on this one - Caulk is "ignored" by the engine (its not but the explaination takes about 4 pages) No Draw - the engine still draws the face of the brush but makes it invisible (or so i've been told)
