What modelling program?

Post by Innkeeper »

I am intrested to know what modelling programs people are using for MOHAA.

I have tried my hand at MilkShape to create a light fixture to replace the crappy bulbcovered used in MOHAA. It worked out rather well using the exporter by Scorpio. I do, of course get the "WARNING- DOWNGRADING TO OLD ANIMATION FORMAT FOR FILE:".

"WARNING- DOWNGRADING TO OLD ANIMATION FORMAT FOR FILE:".
I get that when complieing a map even with standard models....Its because there are newer ones with Spearhead in my case....dont know if that maybe related to what you are seeing.

Its not a error rather just a warning that seems to mean nothing...

So lets see it :D :D :D

I'm not completely sure but I think that 'old animation format' models don't have a reference in the newanim folder. In any case, old models LOD much more aggressivily and lower levels of detail. This warning has nothing to do with Spearhead.

Only reason I thought it had something to due with Spearhead was that the map I have been working on before Spearhead had models in it that right have installing Spearhead started posting that error during complie.....weird.

I not concerned with the warning. Even the old models that are .skc do this. The models that are .skd don't. Scorpio's export saves them in .skc format and puts all the exported files in 'Milkshape' sub-directories, YUCK!!! It's a pain to have edit the shader and tiki file to fix this.

I want a better program to edit the models in. MilkShape is a great start of an application, but needs a lot of work to be even as windows friendly as mohradiant. It does have a help file, but that is poorly developed as well.

What do the game developers use? Does anyone here know?

Sure I will release it if anyone wants it. I do want to change the skin on it first, to truly match the one on the side of my shop. It has been there since 1950. Very weathered.

I will post it on my web site when ready.

Me too. But there is a freeware called GMax, similar to 3ds Max. Do they have plugins? GMax and 3ds Max are developed by discreet.

Gmax will only save as a gmax file and I think it exports as a 3ds file, not completely sure. It has been awhile. I will look around for a plugin and post here if i find one.

I don't think there will be a plugin for Gmax. Anyway, I went to the Gmax page and requested a game for Medal Of Honor. With GMax, you can make new weapons, vehicles and characters.
