Map won't load

Post by Asterix »

I was wondering if any one of you could check out my map and see why it won't load. The .map file is located on the following site:

http://3d-portfolio.50megs.com

The compile time is like 5 hours so I apologize in advance :(

I also was wondering if you could help me with the ground texture. It looks very cheezy becuse it is tiling... I played with the surface properties adjusting the scale but was not able to fix it...

Thanks

Is it not loading in the game? If its not check the console for any error messages and let me know.

It seems to work when I had info->player start point inserted. However, since the map is for multiplayer purposes, I only have 3 allied and 3 axis
spawn points...

How do you check the conlose? I use mbuilder...

So the main question is:

Do we need info->player start point in the multiplayer deathmatch map and why?

the 'info->player start point' is where you'll start in spectator mode

Is it a mandatory part of the map? In other words will a multiplayer deathmatch map work without it?

You sure?

I though you HAD to have the yellow start point in any map, no matter what type of map it is.

If you guys wanna quickly look at my 1st attempt at mapping I would really appreciate it. As of now, I do not have the info->player start point in the map.

Here is the URL for the .map file...

for future testing of your map, just in case it crashes or some wierd errors in your map, before you get into your map. type in logfile 2 in the console. then enter your map.

it will save all the console messages in a neat little file called "qconsole.log"

it will list everything that went on while loading and playing your map.

you are right, that map is huge.

first of all on the spawn points, if you plan on playing deathmatch games with your map you must add "deathmatch" spawn points. they are not dependent on sides(axis/allie) anyone can and will use them when spawning.

if you plan on having anything other than DM use the spawn points that state what side to start on (ie. axis and allie). i usually add the start spawn point for a good measure. just try the logfile and it will tell you the errors.

btw, on your map. check your skybox. i saw that the top sky box brush was doubled up, you only need one. and the south sky box was the same way. there were 2 of them inside one another on both the top and south side.

i liked your terrain. must have taken you a while to do.

i have deleted your .map file after i looked at it, so don't worry i won't copy anything.
