I downloaded the demo and played it with a bunch of my team mates. We were all too happy to try out the Liberation mode we had heard so much about and toy around with new weapons like the mine layer. (which by the way is very fun)
First i will discuss the things i did enjoy about playing BT. First as an avid OBJ player i was glad to see they threw a OBJ demo map in there. I know the TOW was supposed to be this great thing where everyone has to work together to meet an objective and both sides have to coordinate attacks and defence but i never once experienced such game play. It was always run around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to find people that wanted to make it work. BT addressed that issue it appears by offering niche players, like myself, a classic style obj map.
New weapons are always fun to play with and BT offers plenty of them along with the classics from AA and SH. (Putting a shotgun back on the axis side was a great idea.) Mine layers....absolutly classic. Nothing better than sitting there idly watching an open are just to see someone step over and a do a back flip. Oh the inner n00b in me was so happy. Bashing with all the weapons was also nice and im sure most SH players are very used to that but it was fun to give that a go again. Other than the mine layer the weapons that stood out the most were the Russian SMG, what did that thing have like 70 rounds? and the silenced rifle. That thing was absolutely precious. Picking off my teammates and have them all cower in hiding because they had no idea where i was .... Priceless.
But as we all know all good things must come to an end. Things i didnt enjoy about BT all go hand in hand with the things i didnt like about SH. I could go on and on about them but i dont see the point in rehashing all that again. I will try to focus on a few things that are new to BT and go from there.
I am first and foremost a sniper and i dont often use things like the n00b tube aka Rocket Launcher but hey i got a rule, 3 shotgun deaths and i break it out. Unfortunately they made it almost impossible to use unless you are just happy to sit there and wait for someone to cross your path. I mean if it is really that bad to use one just take it out.
Although the 70 round smg is fun just prey you dont run into one in a fire fight. THat thing is like a hot knife sliding threw butter. If they were trying so hard to make sure weapons were balanced what is supposed to offset that thing? There were a few other things but that seemed to stand out the most.
Now onto the liberation mode. What a great idea it is unfortunately the map they chose to give us as a demo only left me frustrated. I started to feel the same frustrations i did when i was playing TOW maps. Coordinating both attacks and defence were hard enough before but playing it on a map that wasnt even balanced was more that frustrating. Please let me slap the person that put an mg42 outside the jail cell. Maybe the potential of this mode of gameplay will fully be developed with custom maps by the community after its released. It was tough to watch many run and gun snipers turned into campers with shotguns. It started to feel too much like a button masher than the graceful elegant game i am used to.
For the most part i believe that if you like SH you will in turn like BT. Most AA players such as myself are getting the feeling they are being left out of the loop. THis offers nothing that will appeal to salty AA players other than the new toys but those loose their luster rather quickly. The new leberation style of game play is interesting at best but not appealing.
On a personal note i am an EA whore!! I love thier games and up until SH there hasnt been one i didnt like. To this day i will walk into the store and if it has the EA logo on it i will have a hard time putting it down. So i hope you understand where this is coming from. I will most likely still buy the dam thing and play the SP missions as i did with SH so i guess they win but for multiplayer action i will be a true blue AA guy, which is a good thing since HiTP and OMG are soon to be released right fellas?
This is just my .02 and the views and ideas expressed in this editorial do not reflect the opinions of .map in any way.

I haven't tried the BT demo yet, but I want to ask a question....(this might be better in Off Topic, who knows?).....
A lot of people say they love AA, but hate SH. I can't really see why from a purely multiplayer view. I will agree the single player action in SH is dreadful, i mean i was disgusted when i finished the missions! The multiplayer action though is/was great fun.
So, do people who hate SH mean they hate all of it or just the SP missions?

Personally SP missions are such a small part of why i love MOHAA so much. THe drastic alterations to multiplayer play in SH is why i personally dont like it. Restricting sniper movements as much as the did seemed to work against me to much. I believe SH is buggy, laggy, and downright nasty for multiplayer gaming. First time i saw someone getting shot up while they were crouched and they started to slide across the ground was more than unsettleing. Also as i mentioned before SH offered nothing at all for OBJ player other than the futile TOW maps.

Ahh yes i see your point, that sliding thing is terrible. That's why i usually play on custom servers who make it one shot and you're dead and removed the sliding problem.
A part from that i enjoy SH more than AA. Guess it's another one of those cases where someone likes one thing and someone else likes another.

If your ping was 999 and your fps was 0.1 then you were in the wrong server.
If you dislike respawn and you had 250+ ping dont join liberation.
You like to bind leanleft with moveleft(moveright, leanright) then join a server that allows you to lean like AA.
If you like to shoot a guy upper body with a .45 or above and like to see him stay down join some sort of realism server.
I enjpyed played BT because i had generally no fps or ping problems.

liberation mode isn't too good . I player for a while got shot ended up in the klink and because there where only 6 players 3 per team I ended up with one other guy who just kept saying release the prisoners over and over again . The one player went for the objective and ignored him . How irratateing it was gag gag . I want to play not sit and wait .
