Probably one for tltrude, I had a look at his exploding door map and couldnt see an expample of exactly that.
If its possible this would be nice for dudes making oil deriks.
Thanks

Ok its a setup in most motors in cars trucks etc and also on the front bottom left corners of steam trains.
In a car the crank rotates horosontally and makess your wheels go around now for that to happen several rodsare conected to the crank in such a way that they orbit around the outside of the crank. The rods are connected to the crank at the bottom and at the top of the rod they are connected to a piston that goes up and down. So there is my delama, its with the rod that goes round and round at the bottom and up and down at the top.
Here is a picture of the top of the pistons as you can see they go up and down inside those holes.

Here is a picture of pistons and rods, or conrods if you want to be more specific.

Here is a picture of the pistons and rods connected to the crank sitting outside of the motor, see how as the crank turns the bottom of the rod goes round and round making the piston go up and down

And here is a crank on its own.

oh and after all that here is a link to a better explanation with better pics

possible
I can make anything move, ha ha. For the crankshaft, just put an origin brush in the center and make it rotate. Place the piston rods on the shaft and bind them to the shaft in the script. Then make the piston rods rotate back and forth in time with the rotation of the crankshaft. the origin brush for the piston rods should be at the top. The pistons just move up and down.
The farris wheel is kind of like what you want. the little cars rotate in the oppisite direction from the main wheel. And, your rods have to do that too.

Thanks for your help tltrude, would you be interested in making it work for me if I sent you a lil test map, brushes all done, would only need a quick tickle from you.
I might be able to do it based on your instructions but I would probably be bogged down for ages with it and still need extra help.
