nooo! my home pc just went arse end up.
i was installing a program roxio platium, there was a driver update wit it so installed it, it said restart, so i did. or it cud have been some other thing.

so when the machine was starting up, up came the dreaded screen, there was a error, windows cud not start properly.
choose 1 of the following
safe mode
.
.
.
.
and the rest
(not the actual words used)

so i choose safe mode.
no gud
and the same for the rest.
the machine keeps crashing, windows won't start, and i don't know what to do. i don't want to reinstall xp as i will loose all my stuff maps everything. ahhhhhhh!

tried to repair using the xp cd but it keeps asking for an admin password,
but i didn't set 1 and i tried passwords i used for my accounts no gud.

can some one please help i've looked for hours on the net got some info but nothing that help full.

(if your wondering, i'm using a friends pc at the mo.)

say maybe the driver update changed the settings in BIOS so your RW drive loads first. as for the admin password, try serial numbers on the back of the reinstall package.

To save your files you could always remove the harddrive and move it to another computer and access it there. Than you can make a reinstall.

In the future, you could consider useing two partitions one for the horrible m$ system and one for all the nice things like MOH and such. Then you can reinstall every week if you like.

Well, No not really. Except for the commonsense ones, of course. Like turning the power off, and not being loaded with static electricity.

If you have never done however it I suggest you call a friend who has more experience in that area, There could be some problems getting it to work on the next system depending on master/slave setting on the hard drive etc. You will need a nother computer in any case so most likely you will not do this alone.

i have a friend that is pretty gud at that stuff, he's givin me a hand, but i'll have to wait till mon before anything can be done,
the horror of havin 2 wait till then.
