Light dosnt work

Post by Daniel Radcliffe »

I have a small tower in my map that is 1500 units high approx, i want to put a red light on top of it, but i cant get it to work.

Ive put a light at the top, given it a key/value of color/1 0 0 and increased the brighness of it to 400 as it is along way off the ground. Ive then given it a red corona which ive enlarged by 4 times. The problems that i get are these:

1. Although i can see the corona, the light dosnt work at all, it cant be seen, even if i move the corona away from the light.

2. The corona dosnt line up to where it should be after compile, its moved further down the pole and to the right alittle.

Although having the light isnt important for the map, can someone please tell me why this is happening and how to solve it.

Thx

Did you rotate the corona don't just scale it . It is round already . For the light select it and press K on the keyboard and choose your color that way .

I just scaled the corona, didnt rotate it or anything.

As for the light i set the colour using the k key, and the damn thing still dosnt show, it cant be seen at all.

Its an eveil light, ive even tries using a new light entity and still dosnt work.

did you use key:light value: 400 and did it show a larger radius in mohradiant ? 300 is normal light maybe if it is far away use a larger light vaule . Don't set any angles or radius those are for spotlights .

Yep ive used key/value = light/400 i even tried turning the light upto 500 and its still completly invisable.

These are the adjusted settings on the light

_color/0.972549 0.172549 0.027451
light/500

i cant see any reason why they shouldnt work, but they dont.

The _color is the default that come up from selecting colours using the k key and i have tried to change it to color but this has had no affect on it :(

The light can't be seen what you see is the surfaces it shines on . If you want to see a light bulb shine you use the corona .

To change the color of a light the Key name is "_color" not "color". To make the light big enough to lightup the ground or walls, use:

Key: light
Value: 800

300 is the default size of a normal light.
