New Map - Death In The Woods

Post by Voltaire »

Ok everybody, I just made a new map I call "Death In The Woods", I just needed to fix a couple of bugs in the custom screen and sound department. I am using Nemesis's tuts for that and still having a problem. Then it will be ready for release. It takes place on a early foggy morning, its a fair size map, runs good on my slow computer. The screenshots can be viewed at:

Would love to hear from you all about it.

Hunter, yes, there are more trees, I did not want to create a forrest, just a wooded area. And I did keep the number of trees to a limit for fps reasons :D But there are quite a few out there. there are also a few rocks also. Another reason I kept the trees to a limit was for the tanks, tanks usually didn't operate in a massive forrest. :) Also I wanted to create a spooky type atmosphere with the fog, and hopefully the music will help with the effect.

It is looking good. Might I suggest some hills in the terrain and perhaps other natural details?
We will need some cover besides fog while playing the map

It is multiplayer, I presume?

Kill Ya Later (if I can find you in the fog  )

Thanks Crunch :D for the good comments, I do have some small hills in the map and barb wire fences. I put those in after the screenies were made and realized that there was some need for obstacles to hide behind. :) There is also 2 lines of foxholes and sand bag emplacements, one for each side. Also two buildings more in the center of the map to provide cover as well a couple of rocks. There is also two mg towers on each side behind the foxhole lines, as well as some barracks behind that. :) I just picked out the best pics from the screen shots. Yes it is a spearhead MP.

Just had this idea, why not add the option of calling in air/artillery support. I city maps that's not that logic, but in the woods you might try it?

That sounds like a good idea, but I am not very good with scripting, still trying to figure it out  . That's why the map is not quite ready for release yet. I might be able to put it in later if I can get some one to help with that. But that's a good idea! :D
