Qick Question on farplane

Post by Voltaire »

Just a quick question on farplane for my own reference, is the higher the number, the thicker the fog or lesser?

Now how do you do that?

The LOWER the number, the thicker. Think of it as in world units. At the number specified, the fog is 100% non-transparent.

Depends on the map. Thicker fog makes for higher FPS and when used with good VIS is a powerful tool. If you really need FPS help, you can use the caulk/sky texture on the sky box. It will take on the color that you assign to the fog and provide a really good and cool 'fade' in effect as you walk along.

In spearhead you can use "farplane_bias" to set the distance to where the fog first starts to appear.

If there is any way to do this in AA I sure would like to know.
