thanks ill give that a try....what im trying to makle is a simple doorway...
and i really dont want to have to make it from scratch....also cant really clip it...
but ill try the camera thing and filter thing see what happens....
ok well i tried everything and no good....so i just deleted that map as i wasnt that far into it anyways and with the new one i can subtract just fine...i think maybe it was something with that map...
i have a new question. when ever i go to right click in 3d view so that i can move the camera around to look....what ever i right click on gets textured with what ever texture is selected...even tho im not texture at the time....how can i change it so that dont happen. either by makeing so you have to shift click to texture or something....
i have to say textureing is way harder in radient then what im use to in worldcraft...that was much easier. tho im starting to like radient more for all the things it can do. just wish they would make some things better.

Interesting. For myself i can click pull drag or whatever in the 3d view screen and that wont happen unless i hit shift left mouse to select a brush and ctrl shift left mouse to only choose one side of a brush. Maybe check to see if your preferences are set correctly. Sorry i know thats not much help.

Cut
Here is another way to do the cutting. Slect the wall and the cutting brush and open a new map. It will ask if you want to copy and you should say yes. In the new map you should have no problems making the cut. then you can make a prefab of all the brushes the wall was cut up into.

One thing I noticed....
One thing I noticed on my radiant is this:
If you subtract any solid brush and you have used "caullk" and then used "ctrl + shift" to texture the surface it will crash - Everytime. So you need to give a complete Texture first, i.e select the brush then the Texture.
The other one works the best if you are patient enough, building the brush and doing the subtractions in another map. I usually build prefabs first if I am planning on subtracting anything, it saves a lot of hassle. Theres nothing worse than clicking CSG and wallop !!
But as everyone says, Radiant likes to crash...........its Russian Roulette !!

Hmmm
Sorry, but I don't get what you are trying to say. It has never crashed on me when using Ctrl + Shift + Left Mouse Click to select/deselect a face.carlpenn wrote:If you subtract any solid brush and you have used "caullk" and then used "ctrl + shift" to texture the surface it will crash - Everytime. what I mean is, if you use the CTRL + SHIF + LEFT MOU option to texture a surface or two on a brush, then Radiant crashes when you try to CSG from the brush.
That is if you start from Caulk.......E.G
6 sides to a brush..........you make the brush from caulk
then you texture two sides with brick texture .......... if you then attempt to cut a hole using CSG Radiant crashes...........or at least that is the most common problem with CSG that I have found.
I am not saying it will happen on everyones radiant, but it does on the one I am using.

Probably is, but like I said, was just putting the idea forward........its funny you dont have as many crashes at 256Mb........I rarely get them at all with 512Mb ...... saying that Radiant does use a fair wack of memory!!
I have had many wierd and wonderful problems with Radiant in the past, we live and learn !!
