Everytime I load the program I ALWAYS get the set basepath dialgue box and i always have to go through that damn window every time, I know the basepath is correct...I just want this thing to stop showing up!!

Also, radiant crashes almost every time I try to load textures...I have entdefs in the main directory, do I need texture files or something??? Someone please help me correct my problems!!!!

Are you trying to load general_structure textures? If so i suggest saving your work first. I dont recall if anyone has found a solution to this or not but radiant will crash occasionally when trying to load them. I find that it happens less frequantly when i reload the textures before i try to load general structure textures.

Hope that helps

Nevermind I got the "search box" to work...but Radiant still crashed when I try loading just about any texture set. The only set i can get working is the "utility" set.........I'm not a happy camper!! LoL

EDIT ~ I can get some of the texture sets to load, but when I push "t" to view them, it crashes.

Memory

I had that problem a lot until I got more memory for my computer. I have 256Mb now and it happens a lot less. Try different Render Quality settings under View.

About your dialogue box opening everytime you start Radiant.........
Once in Radiant, go to Edit-->Preferences.
Make sure that Load Last Map On Open is NOT checked.
That should solve that problem.

There is a "Load last project on open" checkbox that you should set aswell.

The crashing when loading textures is almost certainly due to memory. It used to crash on me regularly until I got some more ram, I now have 512 and hardly have any problems at all. I still crash if I try selecting a ton of brushes at once and then try moving them, but I can work around this, I move half a structure at a time.

Also using the view/filter can help a lot, hide meshes, lod, static models and it eases Radiants pain and should make it run a lot better.

Thanks guys.....although I do have 352 MB of RAM.

Would it be possible that since I have a crappy graphics card (S3 Graphics) could possibly be the problem with the textures?????
I am really thinking about getting a new one...any suggestions for around 100 bucks???

Geforce3

I have a Geforce3 Ti 500 and it works great. It has 64Mb of on-the-card memory. It should fit your price range nicely.

I wouldn't buy a GForce3 anymore... Having one may be fine, but its time is over...

Since many newer and faster cards are available, u probably might get something nice at ebay!? In ebay Germany, I saw a ATI Radeon 9200 for 60 EUR, a GeForce FX5200 for 60 EUR, a GForce4 TI4200 for less than 100 EUR and many more. These cards were all unused, used ones are even cheaper... or faster :D

Don't know where u are, but i think the prices at ur ebay won't be much higher!?
