Do i have the put this in worldspawn when i use visleafgroups?
Vis-dirived?

This seems to suggest you only need to use it if you are using manual vis, i.e. such thing as leafnodes. But it defaults to "ON" so just leave it.Worldspawn wrote:"vis_derived" whether or not the vis compiler derives additional vis info from the manual vis. default is 0. 0 means vis compile will be slower since manual vis data is added after auto vis data. 1 means vis is faster and lower runtime poly count, but erroneous no draw could result from incorrect manual vis data.

VIS_DERIVED
Had a lot of trouble rendering the BSP for my large map (as big as the editor allows)
I stopped the first render at 360 hours. Did some reading on the forums and spent a
couple of days setting up manual VIS. It rendered, after 6.5 days.
I read JV's compile guide but he does not use manual vis.
Searched more forums about manual vis and I finally found out about "VIS_DERIVED".
It's a world spawn parameter in the map to set a compile option. Geez that's dumb,
almost as dumb as a server variable "thereisnomonkey" (cheats = 1 is not enough?)
So I save the map with the worldspawn "vis_derived" as 1 and the bsp renders out
in not 6.5 days but.........under 3 minutes........wooohooooo.
It took a few more days to tweak the manual vis but it works perfect now.
So I finished my map "King Tiger 2" see the other thread.
