applying scripts using MOHradiant

Post by stecol »

I cant seem to get scripts to work in MOHradiant. Ive built a map with static objects in it and it works fine but when I try to add a script it doesnt work. For example, I added a door and it just appears in the game as a big block stuck to the wall. Am I missing something here???

Scripts

Post by tltrude »

You don't add the script with the map editor. It is a seperate text file (.scr extention) that goes in the same folder as the map (.bsp extention). If you unzip pak5.pk3, or any mod pk3, you will see the script files.

OK, I realise that this scripting lark isnt as easy as I first thought. All Im basically trying to do is put a door into my map rather than just create a clear opening in the wall. Does anyone have a script that I could use and experiment with?

Thanks.

You can add scripts in radiant but I would NOT recommend it. Its very buggy.

Here is a tutorial map that has 35 different doors in it. The zip includes the .map file, a playable pk3, and a text version of the script.

Door2

Post by tltrude »

It is a nice little map. It compiles very fast, even with -v, -v, final set. Actually, I think there are 36 doors now because I added one to the back of the garage that opens with a keypad (remote trigger). I am counting the drawers under the TV and the kitchen cabinets as doors too. And, both sides of double doors. The manhole elevator is a door as well.

I am proud of the front door, now that it has shootable glass. There is a fanfold door in the tunnel too--I count it as one door even though it has 4 sections that rotate.

Yes, I think it should be a stick!!

Hmm... my house might need some drawers and use that keypad for switches

No don't make it a sticky or two things will happen.

1 Nobody who is new to mapping would post.
2 Tom will have to go into hiding due to the sheer number of help requests.

.........no really it should be a sticky or be adapted into the tutorials section. It opened my eyes (no pun intended) to the possibilities.
PM me your tips of the day.
