Help with compiling

Post by toyomatt84 »

I searched for help on this, but did not find any.

When I compile my .map files, I get a .bak file. How do I change this so I can get .bsp files or .pk3 files, because I can't use the other one when trying to setup a multiplayer game. I use MBuilder to compile my maps on MOHRadiant.

ERROR

Post by tltrude »

You must be getting an error.

For MBuilder:

You can make seperate logs for each step. Just click on "change" and put in the code.

-v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_bsp.txt

-v > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_vis.txt

-final > c:\WINDOWS\desktop\log_light.txt

I have them going to the desktop so they can be trashed easily, after looking them over. But, the path to your desktop may be different.

.bak files are just map backups, (bakup  ). Do what tltrude said and post the logs here and we should figure out the problem.

Hmmm... tried that, but the log files don't show up where I want them to. In fact, they don't show up period.

you could also do

-v > C:\bsp_log.txt

-v > c:\log_vis.txt

-final > c:\log_light.txt

Also make sure your using the right drive letter

Tried that as well, but to no avail. Should I try the other compiler, and if so, what kind of settings does that one require to work properly.

other compiler

Post by tltrude »

The other compiler is even harder to use. Can you post your Mbuilder batch file settings? Here are mine:

"C:\PROGRA~1\MOHAAT~1\Q3map.exe" -v -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
"C:\PROGRA~1\MOHAAT~1\Q3map.exe" -vis -v -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
"C:\PROGRA~1\MOHAAT~1\MOHlight.exe" -final -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
Copy "C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\MAIN\MAPS\TLTRUDE\.bsp" C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\main\maps

"C:\DOCUME~1\MATTBE~1\Desktop\MOHAAT~1\Q3map.exe" -v C:\Documents and Settings\Matt Bertelson\Desktop\mbuilder\BSP\bsp.txt -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
pause
"C:\DOCUME~1\MATTBE~1\Desktop\MOHAAT~1\Q3map.exe" -vis -v C:\Documents and Settings\Matt Bertelson\Desktop\mbuilder\VIS\vis.txt -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
pause
"C:\DOCUME~1\MATTBE~1\Desktop\MOHAAT~1\MOHlight.exe" -final C:\Documents and Settings\Matt Bertelson\Desktop\mbuilder\LIGHT\light.txt -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA
pause
Copy "C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\main\Maps\dm\.bsp" C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\main\maps

This is what was in the batch window.

You left out the little ">" symbol.

-v > C:\Documents and Settings\Matt Bertelson\Desktop\bsp.txt

We probably only need that first one for now. Is your MOHTools folder on your desktop?

Is your MOHTools folder on your desktop? Search your computer for "bsp.txt" and post the contents.

The tools folder is on the desktop, it just has to go thru my documents and settings folder to get to the desktop when using Windows XP.
