In 1918 at 1100 on the 11th day of the 11th month (November) the armistice with Germany that ended World War One was signed and peace was declared throughout Europe. In order to remember those who died and give thanks for their sacrifices it was declared that in future November 11th would be known as Rememberance Day (Veterans Day in the US) and that a minutes silence would be observed to honour all those, living and dead, who served in the Armed Forces.
Please take a minute @ 11am, where ever you are, to honor and remember the sacrifice that so many young men made, and continue to make across the world for our freedom.
- They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.
