Gud idea! Bad Idea!

Post by williewisp »

I was just wondering!!!!!!!......................

since most users don't have a web site of there own and since dodstudios(the site i used to upload pictures) doesn't seem to be operating any more  . it is very hard to upload pic's onto the net, for some people including meself! unless you know how.

but anyway, i was wondering if it would be possible to include an upload area on the site where users cud upload there pic's, for use when getting help.

here's a few ideas.

1. have different sections for uploadin i.e. 1 for mapping pic's problems,
1 for screen shots etc.....

2. have it in such a way that if a picture is more that 30 days(or less) old it will be deleted.

3. have so that a user can only post a max of 4- 8 pic's a month or every 2 weeks .

4. the pic can only be jpeg and a certain size.

it's just an idea!
it's not a time for thinking its a time for drinking!

I just found out that my internet provider had 10mb just sitting there waiting to be used for anything. Now I have no pop ups or banners on my site. My url is funny but most people will be getting there by clicking my signature picture anyway. Check it out, you may have it as well.

Your idea would be sweet but with over a thousand members, I doubt pics could be hosted on this server.
PM me your tips of the day.

Silversound, Your free web space will fill up fast, if you keep using 200k images on your pages. The internet does not require the images to be high quility and you should reduce the size to around 600 X 800 (or less) for people that have smaller monitors.

Btw, enterance.htm and eastparkinglot.htm are not showing up.

ooo I have been busy, nothing creative just getting some PHP stuff working :(

I would suggest for a screenshot you crop your image to 500x375, if its a JPG try to keep the quality under 75% anything over this adds to the filesize without much improvement on the quality, often you can get it down to 60%+ and it will still look ok. For screenies from radiant GIF's often compress better than JPG's. If you follow these ideas your pics should be at most about 70k, a big improvement on 200k :)
Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta:
"If I win this war, you will be slaves forever."
The Spartan ephors sent back a one word reply: "If".

Sorry guys I have dual monitors and my screens are way too big. I will be throwing most of those out. Your right I have way too high of quality for my pics. Any 56k guys will be frustrated. I will work it out soon. Thanks for checking it though. :) I can actually set up 8 acounts for my Comcast account. And Each can Have 10mb and 1gig transfer which would be 8gigs per month :) Plenty if I keep it organized.
PM me your tips of the day.
