Prefabs

Post by indiana_tim_d »

Firstly what are they?
I've made two models - a lamp and a jar - in radiant and saved them as prefabs.

Secondly how do I use them?
Can i load them like static entities in my maps?

I've used them by just opening the map file, having them as a func_group and just copying and pasting the whole group into my map and resizing it.

IF you go to File> Load prefab you can load the prefab (.pfb) and then insert it into your map. Also next time you want to select a bunch surround the brushes with a brush and goto selection> select complete tall its the first option in the second group of options.

The prefab will be in the same place as it was saved so in a different map you may have to look for it . It will be selected automatically when you load it so you can move it where you need it .

There are loads of awesome prefabs that are available to download - they are done with extra detail in most cases (people have spent loads of time over one prefab). they can save you loads of time but can also spoil your map if you use too many.
