Another jvbot question

Ok. To start off. I have searched near and far for an answer. Also, I'm not a mapper and I don't know how to code. I'm just interested in getting these bots to move around and shoot people.

I have a dedicated linux server that I play on. I installed jvbot and also the opcenter bot map and caen bot map on the linux server. Now, when I join the server, bots start to join teams. But the only problem is...

When the bots spawn, they spawn in the same place and/or they become invisible. I can shoot them and kill them at their spawn spot, but they don't move at all.

Is Opcenter bot map and/or caen bot map pathed yet? Or do I have to do it myself?

Hi Adairen, first of all welcome to .map and cheers for trying my bots :)

The problem you've described sounds remotely familiar. I know one guy having the same problem and I've also spotted it with my own eyes. I'm however uncertain what the reason behind these troubles is and was unable to reproduce this error at home. Sadly as of now I cannot provide a solution :(.
Is Opcenter bot map and/or caen bot map pathed yet? Or do I have to do it myself?
Hmm maybe you could expand on this a little? I am not quite sure what you mean and I'm also not very familiar with linux servers. Maybe you can give a clue as to where the problem lies :)

What's caen? A mapper? Sounds as a different map.

Did you try to take custom pk3 out of your main folder?

Try putting only jvbots pk3 and Opcenter pk3 inside your main folder (leave the others custom pk3 in a temp folder in your desktop).

Well, I think I just made progress and have if I explore a little more, I may solve the solution you seek. Here's what I did...

I ran a dedicated server, both Linux and Windows on my regular server OBJ config file. I got the same problem. Bots spawned but they were never active.

BUT, I used a basic config generated by the "Spearhead_Server_Setup.exe", started the Opcenter Bots map, and then I had bots everywhere killing stuff.

So the root of the problem must be in my original config file. I'll do some Trial and Error and I'll keep you posted.

I did some trial and error and located the culprit in my config file.

jvbot does not work when I have the seta sv_privateClients "x" cvar in my config file. Where 'x' of course is any number...

When I comment it out, the bots work fine.

My latest map Colditz Castle is using stocks AIs (not jv bots) and I use them as prisoners that can follow allies players when they are activated.
By the way a lot of thanks to Brian Boddy for the MP AI following system that I have taken from the Rescue map. :D

We have on our map exactly the same problem: the AIs wont move if the sv_privateclients var is set to upper then ZERO, as long as a private slot is not populated on the server. As soon as somebody connect with the private client pass, they start to move, if the guy left, they stop :?: :shock:

Any idea?

The Beta version has been released and is a succes and I would like to sort out this problem for the final version

tbh I would love a fix but don't know any yet :( I'll try doing some research when I get the chance :)

Hmm I haven't even been able to reproduce the problem :cry: are you running a linux server?

Mmmh yes and no m8 :?

Well in fact NER has plenty of servers so we have tested it on many of them, and the problem occurs both on win 2K AND on linux servers, what can I said about them config is:
* Spearhead patched 2.15
* Counter Intelligence and MAM V 1.5.4.0
* vstr Configs scripting.
I have tried to cut off CI on the win 2K for try, and those donkeys still wont move.

Anyway this is interresting if you havent the problem on your config with a sv_privatelients set to upper then zero, it means that we can avoid it.

Could it be aproblem related to Spearhead or 2.15 patch?

Hmm I didn't put in in the config file just typed it in console... could maybe make a difference :? might also be the Spearhead thingie wouldn't know really :? any info is helpful though :idea:
