ok i dont get it why my .pk3 file does not work???

this is how i got it..tell me if its right.

floder name (user-dm_death_room)
floder maps
floder dm
file dm_death_room.bsp
file dm_death_room.min

i then zip the floder user-dm_death_room , them changed the .zip to a .pk3 and still it dont work why is this.

Just right click on the "maps" folder and make it a zip. You can rename the zip file "user-dm_death_room.pk3" afterwards.

You only need a pk3 if you are going to send it to other people. If all you want to do is test your map, put the maps folder in Mohaa/main.

what kind of error do you get, or does it just not show at all. i guess this would be good a place as any, how come when u compile u get a prt and a vis. what are they for? ive never needed them.

The .prt file is created during the intitial compile as well as the .vis and the initial .bsp file.

The .prt file is used for portal calculations/views/chains, along with the .vis file during the VIS stage of the compile. They are then "combined" into the final .bsp file after lighting is complete.

So basically, you don't use them, the compiler uses them.
