server disconnected on the server?(problem)

shoudnt there be a technical difficulties forum??
anyways,hi all ,i would really love any help u can offer on this problem
i have a lan as some of u might know from my other post and my problem as the subject says is the server disconnects
i have mohaa v1.0 and i made a server (not dedicated)on a pc (2.4ghz 256ddram/geforce 4 mx 440 64mbs with winme on it) and had 6 other (average 2 good) pcs join this server 2 play.they all play very nicely and have no probs ,then suddenly i get a server disconnected error on all pcs without any warnings :( (even on the server itself) .this server disconnected error is random ,i cant seem 2 find a cause 4 it.it happens on different maps and different times ,i tried changin the server and making it on the other 6 pcs but it still does it.this error is not very frequent but it still is a VERY annoying problem when it happens and id really like any help on this :wink: .i dont have any mods installed on all pcs ,just the plain old mohaa with a few extra maps .tnx alot

well,there is an update on the situation.after further testing this problem has been found 2 occur at certain times.all pcs (including server)get "disconnected from server " message when a certain pc joins the game,although this pc sometimes joins without a problem .in my network i have 7 pcs and only one of them has displayed this problem (crashing server when joining) .i have no mods on all pcs and i have a few extra maps,im not completely sure that this is the problem , i believe that this is a special case of the big problem but it still might be the cause of the it.

this pc has also been found 2 freeze while playing mohaa ,after restarting and attempting 2 join again the server crashes (not always though and not on other pcs when they restart).the specs of the pc is as following

1.7ghz 128kbs cache/256sdram /80g.b hdd/built in vga card (prosavage 4) /manli motherboard (p4 ofcourse)/win me/medal of honor allied assault v1.0 (not updated)

the last 2 specs are on all pcs
if any1 had this problem b4 or knows a possible solution on it plz tell me ,id really love it.tnx alot

The console of the server should give you some kind of a clue as to why it shutdown. You can make a log of the console by typing in "logfile 1" before the first map is loaded. It will make a file name "qconsole.log" in Mohaa/main.

well,thats a good idea ill try it,but the problem is i removed the console from all pcs 2 disable cheats ,and the crashing is random its not definate.SOMETIMES a pc crashes or freezes while playing (not often) and when the pc is restarted and tries 2 join again it crashes the server (not always) disconnecting the rest.is there any way that i could put the "logile 1" command in the shortcut properties instead of typing it in the console each time?if any1 has another way or knows how 2 fix this plz come forward ,in the mean time ill try tltrudes idea ,tnx

You could try:

+set logfile 1

Btw, "logfile 2" adds to the log, rather than overwritting it.

well,the fact that this problem is random makes it illusive 2 catch it in the nets of the logfile :wink: .i found that +set logfile 1 works and i will use it ,if i put logfile 2 the console file could grow very big b4 i can find an error.as i said b4 i have 7 pcs,so i will have 2 monitor all of them as the server isnt always on the same pc.
there is one more thing i seem 2 have forgotten 2 ask about.y does mohaa crash in the 1st place?it displays the illegal operation window with the close button on it while loading a map(not a specific map,just a random error i think).this error appeared on a few pcs at different times and maps and when this happens and i reopen the game there is a 50% chance that it will crash the server when joining.any info on these problems would be very appreciated

oh,tnx alot.i guess this could probably do it,although this patch seems like a nightmare 2 me on a 56kbs modem i guess ill have 2 dload it,tnx again.i havent been able 2 get the servr 2 crash while logfile 1 was active :)
