have you tried setting angle -2 on the door or pressing the U button in the entity window (same thing)?

as far as i know - and i searched this forum (and google) for 2 hours some days ago - doors cannot turn up or down just by setting a different angle.
So u wil have to script it. Tltrude has made a tutorial map full of doors where surely there is a hatch/trapdoor to be found. Or u could d/l the bridge at the MOHAA trashbin which works quite the same way.

Angles may work if you use them for func_door, instead of func_rotatingdoor... but I suspect some scripting is needed...

Bjarne, u're right. I implied that his intention was to do a rotating door, but he never said so. a func_door with angle/-1 moves up and no scripting is required for this.

Space station doors... cool :) Just add a "swosh" sound and you are done :)

Star Trek mod anyone? :D

it would need a severe weapon modding, but oooh, those days of DOOM I - mapping where doors did JUST open upwards, those were the times...

StarTrek

I already made (more like converted) a StarTrek map. It is from the game "Elete Force 2", and the doors are very fancy.

Here is the Door2 tutorial map.

Door?

Post by tltrude »

So, which is it? Do you want a door that rotates up, or one that slides up? Do you want a garage door, or a trap door?

My garage door rotates and slides at the same time, but it uses a walkthrough trigger. There is a trap door above the kitchen.

sliding up is easy, the roate is hard. for a sliding door put the origin on top, and set the angle to "u" in the entity window, methinks its -2 but it might be -1, i dont remember.

in fact, u won't need an origin brush for a sliding door. and pressing the button for direction 'up' does an angle of -1, -2 would be down.
