spawn question

Post by CTpenok »

Hi all,

First I like to thank you all for all the answers I was looking for and found here.
I started working on my first map a while ago. The map is suposed to be sort of a remake of The Bridge with some extra stuff and some things a bit different. There are some images on our site if you are interested. http://www.dccmohaa.uni.cc/

I'm almost finished but i have a question wich i couldnt find the answer for.
I want it to be possible to respawn as an allied at the axis spawnpoint when there are too many enemys at the allies spawn. And ofcourse the other way around.
How can i make this possible?

You'll have to explain better what you are looking for. if you are trying to stop spawn killing, there are better ways then switching the spawn points--which can be done. What type game will your map be, objective? Are you looking to force players to switch teams?

I think he means this:
in 'the Bridge' Allies spawn on one side of it, and the axis spawn on the other. Now, say if the Axis all charge and cover the allied spawn point, it would be a Spawn Kill Fest, Where-as all the Axis spawn points are open and aren't in use. (if you know what i mean).

he wants to know how to make it so (i think this is the right wording) that an allied (or axis) soldier will spawn on the opposite side of the map away from the opposing team. All of the stock TDM maps do this...

OK, after a quick look at a stock TDM map (Southern France) I found 3 things:
1) The spawnpoints are placed around the map in axis/allies pairs, like this:

2) The spawns have no extra properties set on them.
3) No scripting is made on behalf of the spawnpoints in the maps SCR file.

Conclusion:
The "coherent team placement" in a TDM map is decided by MOH:AA, not by placing or scripting spawns. BUT the maps general spawn setup suggests, that if you place only 2 clusters of multiple axis/allies spawns in your map, spawning will be working as you describe you want them to. But place some in the rest of the map as well, as BOTH spawn clusters can be occupied by enemy troops.

what mohaa does is spawn u at the farthest spawn from a person, so what u have to do is put allied and axis spawns in both areas, mohaa will do the rest.
