Post by dooguesgoober4 »

Is it at all possible to make one sided windows as to where you can see out one side but not in from the other side????? If possible, it'd be an awesome addition to my current map im creating!!

Hmm, I don't know. I suppose that if someone could make a tinted glass texture and shader, it would be possible.

sure its possible. easy too. make a window out of any glass texture. on the side u dont want transparent make a patch mesh the same size as your window and make it black. make a patch mesh by making a brush and selecting Curve->Patch Mesh. patch meshes are 2d so only one face draws. viola a 1 way window.

why not just make a brush for the window, texture it completely with common/nodraw (which will be invisible) a transparent window texture to one side and the non-transparent texture to the other side where u do not want players to see through. this should do it.
Only thing is: for the non-transparent face u need a texture with a shader without the line

Code: Select all

cull none
because this line would make that texture/face be visible from both sides.
So either choose one without that line or write (rather copy/paste) a new one.

If u gave more details about what the window should look like (size and prefered texture), i could do it for u...

Just texture one side with see-through texture and the other side with non-see-through texture.

Funny how the obvious is always over looked . Do what tltrude said . I made a crate once it had one side that was a door ( I didn't tell anyone ) so I could hide inside of it . The inside of the crates door was caulk and the outside was a crate texture . I could see the other players when they ran by  They didn't know how they missed seeing me .
