Level designers/mappers are now called "Environmental Artists". Don't call them level designers or mappers anymore, it just pisses them off.
This change has to be made because of the economy. A lot of ex-level designers are looking for work, generally in the advertising and food service industries, and when people read their resumes they don't know what a level designer is. They don't know what an "Environmental Artist" is, either, but it sounds like you need a degree to be one, so they don't want to show their ignorance by asking.
So the next time you almost step on that wino sleeping on the sidewalk, have a care, that might be an "Ex-Environmental Artist" you're stepping over.
