Loading custom models from .3ds files

Post by mcunha98 »

In some maps, it is possible to see that external objects to the MOHAA had been converted for inside of the format of jogo.In InterNet, many sites say that one plugin for MilkShape must be loaded so that an archive as 3ds for example either converted for the format of the MOHAA. Where I can find some material of example of this therefore I did not obtain!

I think .3ds format does not contain any bones . The SDK has plugins for 3dmax to export models in .skd format . You can import mohaa models into milkshape or lightray3d with mohaa plugins but milkshape runs out in 30 days if you do not register it and lightray won't export at all if not registered . If registered lightray can export .skd , .skc (animation) , .3ds and some more formats .

I don't really do modeling but I think you need at least one bone to export the model to mohaa and you need to convert your .3ds mesh to a skin and bind the vertices to the bone . Then you should be able to export from milkshape to mohaa . I think that there is a 1000 polygon limit to the surfaces so if you can't export you will have to convert the skin back into a mesh and divide the mesh into smaller pieces , convert back to a skin and bind to the bone , then try to export again . Oh I forgot the skin should be named surf_????? ( put surface name where you see the ?????)
and you need to export the model as a .skd and maybe as a .skc too the .skc is the animation file . In mohaa you will need a .tik file for the model look in the pak0.pk3 models directory for examples of that .

I hope this helps a bit like I said I don't model yet . You should post in the modeling forum this is not the right place for this post .
