IMPORTANT: GI TEST MAP

Post by chrisjbooth2001 »

You may of heard that GI were the first clan to release a liberation map, I would like to point out several things...

The map was made into three parts,
Village,
Bridge,
And Bunker

The Bridge and the Bunker were prefabs:

Bunker <http://www.mohaa-mods.web1000.com/bunker05.zip>
Bridge <http://www.alliedassault.us/pafiledb3/p ... oad&id=501>

And the village i could not find, then a very reliable source of mine found in your Map Reviews section, DM and TDM maps, a map called Dorf, Please compare the village in Dorf to the village in the "GI's" test map!

www.gi-clan.co.uk For the Test Map
You will find the Dorf map on this site.

I think this is cheap, and would like this posted on the front of this site. The GI STOLE this guys work and made it their own, in their own name. Passing no credit to any authors...

After seeing the map, the best bit was the village,

I say good job to the person who made Dorf!

Its ok to use a few prefabs to give the map some good touches, but chris said that the whole map was made entirly of prefabs which is just plain lazyness.

Also, i bet you were one of the creators of the map, seeing as you know so much about it.

What are you going on about being the first? The first liberation map released was in November it was called Calias.

yep, this dorf is a 90% copy of my dm_dorf.
they did some changes (no custom tex...) and some new/different brushes, but the rest... I did publish the source files though, so that's probably what could have been expected (if anyone liked the map). Nevertheless a small note about the author would have been nice, indeed

yeah they should have added a note saying its not all there work but they have stated on there forum that its a demo and they used a lot of prefabs.so i guess the dorf map was one of them.i have also found out that this guy is from a rival clan who is working on a map and seems to be a bit of sour grapes to be honest.
i think there claim was a working liberation map not a working lib map all there own work.its also not on rotation anymore and i have been told it was just what it said on the tin a test map.its now in the bin and there working on there own maps now.

in one day i have done a lot of leg work to get to the bottom of this so i hope its laid to rest now just like the test map is

HI GUYS

i am the leader of the nasty [-GI-] clan.

i am sorry if we offended anyone for using the map that was in the bin but we did contact the owner to ask if we could use it.

it was made as a liberation map this is all we claim.

we have never said we built the map from scratch nor have we ever said its all our own work.

the map was made as a demo map to which the people who played in our server started requesting to test it.so we allowed them to test it and we got on with the 2nd map.

after about 1 week we deleted the map from our server and had stock maps on rotation.

we have now released our own map for everyone to play.

the guys posting in here and on our own message board are from a clan who are working on there "own map"and seem hell bent on causing us problems. i dont know where else they have been posting this sort of thing but its wasting my mapping time trying to fix all there comments regarding the map that was nothing more than a

test to get a working lib map

so sorry wacko m8 for all this it could have all been avoided if this clan had decided to ask us rather than posting all these comments all over the net.

and cheers for the bin m8 great work.

Nah, as long as you don't get any complaints from some poor modem user, I don't care. 8-)
