printing screenshots in radiant and MOH
Hi,
sorry if this is not really stictly related to mapping, but can anyone give me a bit of advice on the following please?
I have created some screenshots in MOH of models i have made using MOHradiant.....but when i print them off to show somebody it never looks as good as the digital version. Basically most textures (especially the cement lines on bunkers) look all jagged whereas the digital version does not. My printer is new, so i think thats ok, so i was wondering what you do to make the prints look better?
Cheers,
sparky

You could just try and send him the ss over the internet
... printing pictures off with great detail can be exhausting and in the end, useless... You might wanna try and 'monkey' with your printing settings, lighting it up a bit or w/e else seems to discourage you.

so this is rather a problem with psp7 and/or ur printer having problems with these pix. Try to convert them to a different colour depth and/or to CMYK. This may helpSparky wrote:...picture(s) always looks fine in my editor (paint shop pro 7), eg no jagged edges - but it prints out not so good. I could post one but it wont really show anything...

Thanks for the help,
I am work at the moment, but will have another go tonight....i will also post the s/s on my "dead" web site which i never seem to find the time to sort it out and get going!
You may be interested, but when i eventually get around to setting up my web site it will be for bunker prefabs for MOH. All of which have been built as near as acurate as they can be - using lots of diagrams and pictures that i have.
Post you all later.........

Hi,
I have tried printing the s/s again after a bit of "tarting up / editing", but it still comes out jagged? Other normal printing seems ok, so i am wondering if its to do with the angle of the screen shot save?
If you want to check it out and see, follow the link below and find the ammo bunker picture.
Thanks once again,
Sparky.

i printed out that screenie and it was okay for me, even on my old HP DJ 720...
But your jagged printout might be just the result of the low resolution: 800x600 isn't much and u shouldn't print this bigger than 12x10cm (300dpi would be about 7x5cm). The pic IS a bit jagged and if u needed a better qualitiy u should change the screen resolution in MOHAA (atleast for the screenshooting)

Hi,
Thanks for doing the prints....I must be setting up the printer wrong as the screen shot was taken at 1280 x 1024. Which is what i have been printing off but to a "fitted to page size" i.e across the top of an A4 page.
My printer is a HP photosmart 7350 and i have just re-done the print to 12x10 as suggested - it is lot better, i think i was trying to print it too big!!
The s/s on my web site was reduced from the above 1280 x 1024 to 800 x 600, which by the sound of thins is not too good......what would be a good size to reduce the picture to for my future web site?
Thanks once again,

800x600 is rather too much for a website! It could be fine if u gave visitors thumbnails of lets say 200x150 and then they can choose whether they want it bigger/better/slower. Maybe visit the recycling bin and take a look how i did it...
Or try something like 400xanything. this ought to be enough in most cases.
nevertheless for a printout 800x600 is rather small, but always depending on what size the printout should have.

Thanks for the advice, i went to your web site and the picture sizes you used would be fine for me....I will try and get my site up and running soon!
Your web site is inpressive, it is a great new idea to "recycle maps".
I also tried printing off my s/s at work after someboby had set it all up for a professional portfolio - the s/s came out good but a bit dark. So i will have another go at home and fiddle about with the settings to make it better - which i think is where i have been going wrong!
Cheers
