You can't use paint to open that. Use either PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro or Macromedia Fireworks.

well, you could use a Viewer like Thumbsplus (http://www.cerious.com/download.shtml) which can almost open any type of file. To edit a tga file you could convert it to bmp with Thumbs and then use Paint, but of course programs like Photoshop or PaintshopPro are much better for that purpose.

I use LView Pro version 1.D2/32 copyright ? 1993-1996. I've used it since 1996, as the new versions are now too much like paint programs. It can't paint but it can do just about everthing else. Cut, paste, resize, capture, and long list of other things. it's a small program and FAST. I'm not sure if you can find it on the web, that would be a shame.

For painting I use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro

Well, I use PhotoShop but I think PaintShop Pro is better.

Yea PSP is far less complicated. Not quite a powerful, but I probably don't use but 10% of the capabilities of either.

thanks,

you guys are just a plethora of knowledge!!

happy holidays.

okay, i tried.... i believe it was adobe photoshop. and whenever i loaded the level all i got was the normal loading screen, and a huge black box with white
box around it where my .tga was suppose to be.
when i tried to save my pix, photoshop saved it as "mypix.tga, psd" would not let me save it just as a .tga.
i used a .tga from another map for testing porposes and it worked. it seems that the .tga that worked was saved in a different format.

what might i be doing wrong?
