I just did this map, its just a terrain and skybox using EASYGEN, I just wanted to see if I could run around in the map. Do I applied textures to everything and added ambient light, Is there more I need to do before I can look at the map??!? Thanks for the help.

I have a headache...

Your answer is on the first page of the compiling errrors topic. You posted in that topic, so I don't know how you missed seeing it. :?

ERROR: MAX_SURFACE_INFO

There is too much shader data in the scripts folder.

SOLUTION: Remove custom pk3s

sorry axion, didnt see it, my bad. I was in a hurry so i didnt take much time to look around. Do you know anything about those bsp files. How do I get a a .bsp file. I did it once, but i forgot how too do it. Any suggestions?

A .bsp file is a compiled .map file.

What type of compiler are you using?

Mbuilder, Will not having certain things in my map have an affect on this. Its just a terrain and sky box, tectured all. No buildings. There is a player info box, maybe i need to add a player start for it. After saving the file there is a .map and a .bak file.

Did you first try removing all custom .pk3 files (custom maps, mods, skins, etc.) from your main folder?

alright got my bsp and vis files, thanks for that. Now i get this error:

!#!#! 'textures/common/terrain' : Shader has no surface type specified!
WARNING: Couldn't find image for shader textures/common/terrain

Ideas?!?

If you're only getting warning messages instead of errors; don't sweat it too much, your map will still work.

textures or lack there of

Okay now I can run the map in moh. But all there is a terrain, which should be textured but is not. There is a river that should have a water texture in it. And there is one building which has a texture on it. All are just black. Are my textures in the wrong place?!?

Does your map have adequate lighting that would enable you to see if things are properly textured or not?

And what textures are you using?

Most likely you did not light the map properly.

Try walking up to the wall and shooting. If the muzzle-flash shows the texture, then your lighting is incorrect/nonexistent.
In worldspawn, add the k/v pairs of
suncolor/50 50 50
sundirection/-70 200 0
sunflarename/sun
(or "none" if you do not want a sunflare.)
Also add k/v ambientlight/13 13 13.

Now if your textures still do not show up, it is another problem.
