No light

Post by DBD_sliver »

I compiled and made my map, but there's no light when I load it up. I added light in the mohradiant; yet, when the map loads i get sound and stuff but i'm in a completely dark room.

light

Well, you should be able to see if there is a point light in the room. Make sure the bright part of the light stays within the room walls. Also check the path that the light compiler uses is correct in mbuilder--it will skip the light compile if is not.

Another way to get light is to use ambient light. In the editor, highlight one of the wall brushes and hit key N. Then in the "Key:" box type "ambientlight" and in the "Value:" box type "20 20 20" and hit key N again to close it. You'll have to compile again. That should brighten the shadows a bit.

sorry if this sounds stupid now, but i don't know about ur experience level.
make sure u used entity light (not just a lamp) and that it is placed inside the room (not inside a brush). if this doesn't help, please give further information about your problem. U might also read some tutorials?!

I'm new, and this is my first attempt at a map (or in this case, a simple room). I've tried with a lamp. I've also tried just a plain light source (no lamp).

so, why not look at that tutorial 'first room'?
btw, a lamp would be just decoration, light is what brightens the map 8-)

Okay figured it out. For some reason, my compiler stopped copying the file from the maps directory the mohaa/main/maps dir. So, I just have to do it manually now. Thanks anyways guys.
