LADDERFIX??

Post by Sandman1 »

i made a ladder like in the tutorials and indeed i can climb it up :D
but i cant allways climb down.
here's how it works to me.
when i walk to a ladder my model steps up it and when im on the top of my building and i want to step down on the ladder i just cant my model allways falls of OR unless i crouch softly to the ladder then and only then my model is willing to step down the ladder, and that bothers me enormous because in a tdm or obj map you just can keep yerslef busy with going down a ladder.

I saw on a site a ladderfix for the mohradiant but i cant find it anymore is there someone that can give it tome ? then i can work out my map and my prefabs that will come online for the mohcommunity

Can someone help me out please ! ?

Greetz :)

The way I see it you might need to extend your "ladder" brush thing up more. if it isn't extending past the top floor level the character won't initiate the ladder too easily.

Hope this helps you. I had the same problem before.

heres a tip for speed: did you know u can 'use' while facing the ladder to grab it? if you are trying to go down a ladder, just drop off, turn to face the ladder, and then press 'use' before you hit the ground. I do this all the time, like in the secret passages of my map, "Operation:MoonlightRadio"
Toby, or not Toby, that is the question...

yer thx lads :D

but the first thing aint working that good, but it works i tried to set the brush in an extension that it could catch the whole model before descending but it still is the same.
i downloaded the ladderfix for the radiant and it's good but i cant use my own designs then (ladders) i like to work in realism i mean i like buildings in a game like they once where and some still are :).
And yes tr72 indeed the use button rules on that, lol ;) but not all paople are willing to use that while they are in a heavy battle,i just want not that my prefabs suck or my maps.

But thx ! again lads i'll try to work something out and i'll keep you up to date if i found another way of prefabbing a good ladder.
i'll set it online if you want.

Sincere and with friendly greets Sandman (G)

no ladder

Post by tltrude »

Here is a good tip for a no-ladder-brush ladder. make a set of rails (like a step ladder) and angle them at 15 degrees. Place rungs exactly 16 units apart with the bottom step 12 units above the ground.

You can climb and descend this ladder without pressing the use key or losing your gun.

Here is a step ladder prefab, if anyone wants to try it out:

It works great!!!
