i have 3 questions and 1 idea  ,how can u get the free time 2 MAP in school, how do they let u do it,and y not just install the game?

my idea  ,maybe u could edit those pak files, removing the stuff that u think u dont need and useless stuff ,maybe like the sound files,i dont think u will need them since ur just mapping right?this should reduce thier size significantly.

unfortunately, pak0, pak1 and pak2 contain not much that could be deleted, sounds are in pak3 and pak4... pak5 has the bsps... nevertheless u could give it a try but i don't think that u would get under 500MB.

All you really need is a texture folder with caulk in it and the entdefs pk3. That's what I use at work (shhh.... don't tell). If you school PC is as bad as my work pc (built-in graphics), you may want to make your own caulk texture that is plainer. You still have to create the MOHAA file structure to make Radiant happy though; just don't need anything else in them but these two files.

I believe, your method rather would be fine for mapping without any texture but Caulk and do the texturing later at home...
