Water

Post by m4rine »

ho can i create water? is there a special texture or something? i tried puddle texture but no luck :(

i would like it to look realistic - like is there a way to [script?] make the water run fast, slow the player down when he goes in, maybe push him slightly to the current?

mainly i would like water with the player slowed down.

many thanks,

m4rine

You can make water with most water textures in misc_outside. YOu need to hit the key S and change some properties. Not solid property, maybe water property cant remember right now, but try that. Someone else prolly knows how to script it to run fast, slow, etc.

Don't forget no draw on all 4 sides, top & bottom get the water texture.

Actually, you can get away with only the top with the water texture,
and all 4 sides and bottom as no draw. It works identically (you still can go "in" the water and get the effect, but the engine has one less moving surface to draw. :)

In the keyword search box, type "liquid"

It should show all the available ones

That's very interesting....the water in Alsace is only textured on the top, and all the other 5 sides are no-draw. It is non-solid, and the "underwater" screen effects work. :?
Perhaps it is also related to inherent values in the texture's shader as well....

Keep in mind that that motion is inherent in the texture itself. The shader for the water texture sets its motion, and the way to change that is to create your own shader with less/none/more movement.
