MOHAA ultra slow
Well, it's kinda related to MOHAA mapping too.
Anyways, if I compile my map and run it, it's all right. If I compile tyhe map again like 2 or 3 times and start MOHAA, my MOHAA goes like ultra slow and starts hacking the pic etc. Why? It was same with Win98 too (have XP atm)
It kinda bothers me, I always gotta reboot to test map...

yep
I have Windows ME and the same thing happens. I think it is a problem with the editor not freeing up memory when it is shut down, and possibly a lack of free hard drive space. Rebooting the computer is the only way to free up the memory that I have found.
hmmm,i have win me and i never experienced this problem.and i do compile my map numerous times without restarting or feeling any slow down in mohaa or a reduction in the fps.i have a 2.4 ghz cpu /256ddram /64mbs geforce 4 mx 440 .i would say this pc would fall into the category of medium--high pc.however b4 i reinstalled windows because it was getting very buggy (signs of aging).i did experience slow downs of the whole pc itself, mohradient would slow down and all commands 2 mohradient and windows itself would be done after a delay which seemed 2 increase by time until the final freeze.but after reinstalling windows this problem disappeared.im not saying go ahead and reinstall windows, but i was saying ur windows' age could be a very important factor here
Windows
I would rather live with the problem than reinstall Windows--major hassle! On your scale of PC power, mine falls in the lowest catagory (733Mz). I only see the problem after using radient for a few hours. My Windows ME is an upgrade disk for Windows 98, So I would probably have to reinstall both.
I have had that problem on both my machines, but it was map specific. I am not sure what could do it on all maps if that's what is happening to you.
Maybe you're using a texture it doesnt like in all your maps.
My problem was a sky texture I used. Although I stupidly didnt make a note of which one.
Good luck and I'm sure someone here will help you fix it

I once was lost, but now........... I'm still lost!
well,my windows wasnt suffering from this problem only.it was getting very buggy in other stuff as well.thats y i presumed that it affected mohradient 2.u know after a certain period of time windows starts 2 get slow and buggy and crashes alot.i remember that i never used the normal shutdown b4 the reinstallation, cause the pc always freezed on me
.perhaps u could try one of those ram freeing programs .thats what i used 2 prolong the time b4 the freezing of the pc.if used wisely it could help alot in ur case (733mhz!!!).i remember i used it alot when i had my old pc (800mhz
).
perhaps if u send us some info of ur pc Curgny we could be able 2 say what this problem is.oh,one more thing ,was it normal b4?,i mean did u compile ur map numerous times without this happening and suddenly this struck or it was that way from the start?

hmm!!??
.its almost the same as mine so it should run the same.how old is ur windows installation?,does it display any other bugs which are non related 2 mohaa, like slow downs and wierd errors 4 no reason?any thing out of the ordinary like my windows did?
anyways what id recommend is u try one of those ram freeing utilities, they are free, usually very small and their resource use is almost negligible.they arent always effective but they might be useful sometimes.
ofcourse u can always go reformat and reinstall but id consider that a last resort only!!!

drive space
Windows uses hard drive space as memory when the ram is full. How much free hard drive space do you have? My drive is only 20Gig and I have to keep deleting stuff, just to keep 4-5Gigs free. Windows gets very laggy when there is not a lot of free space.
I also got that on my Computer before it died it was also running on the Windows ME OS and as tom said only way to go was rebooting

how exactly did it "die".did u mean u reformated and reinstalled windows or that the pc no longer works !!!!if u mean the 1st which i hope it is,then i guess this problem is caused by a buggy windows.oh and tltrude,4 -5 gigs are much more than enough for windows 2 play around with.i only have like a gb and i havent seen that problem ....yet!!!.maybe u should do like me ,make a 3 gbs (more if u like) drive for windows only which doesnt get anything copied on it ,and use the remainder 17 gigs 4 ur activities .that way u ensure that ur windows has its enough space 4 ever ,and u get a big drive (17 gigs in ur case) with all that u need on it,without having 2 shuffle thru drives,if u still want 2 shuffle thru drives then make folders called drive # and change thier icon
.i have this systme applied on my 120 gb hdd and its really cool (3 drives, winme, winxp, the rest)
well,ur windows installation is fairly new or medium age.and if uve got enough freespace then im clueless as 2 what this is ,might be hardware ,but thats just what i can think of since i dont know anything else
.how about trying any other game while mohaa is running slow, if that game runs slow then it must be a ram problem (the ram doesnt get freed up after the compile) so u should use a ramfreeing utility (did u try one yet?)
