Help! Textures dont display correctly. They are tiled

Post by mr-bishy »

Hi. Ive been having trouble with my textures \ graphics. Ive put my own ones into the pk3 and they work fine except when i look at them they are tiled 4 across and 2 down. I want the texture to stretch over the whole brush. Ive tryed Ctrl+F to fit. (looks fine in editor. .......compile = messed up) Ive even tryed to adjust it manually using custom horizontal and vertical values. I get it lined up and when compile it again screws up in game. What am i doing wrong?? I thought might be my shader. not sure how so here is how im doing it...Plz can someone help :cry:

textures/sigma/sig_sign
{
qer_keyword signs
surfaceparm trans
surfaceparm paper
{
map textures/sigma/sig_sign.tga
depthWrite
rgbGen identity
}
{
map $lightmap
rgbGen identity
blendFunc GL_DST_COLOR GL_ZERO
depthFunc equal
}
}

Only time i have ever seen what you are talking about is when i accidentally named 2 textures the same name but had different dimensions and i left both pk3's in my main folder when mapping...... DOH!!!

Maybe you should double check your main file to make sure you arent experiencing something similar.

try to apply that texture to another brush maybe even in another map just to make sure it's the texture or shader causing the trouble. Then convert your sig_sign.tga to Jpeg format (make it sig_sign.jpg, but leave the tga extension in the shader).
The shader doesn't look wrong, and u probably have copied and pasted the code of an existing shader of a similar texture? There, a screenshot would be helpful, to see what it should look like and/or what it does

That sounds very much like the problem I had when trying to use Breakthrough in Radiant - I'd try using the stock Breakthrough textures, set them up as I wanted them in the map in Radiant then when I tried running it in the game they went all tiled.

I never found an answer and no-one here did either so I just stopped mapping using Breakthrough stuff.

Hi the problem was the texture would not align to the brush. Ctrl + F worked in the builder but when compiled and run in the game the image would not keep the alignment settings. But ive been looking at it solid for the last few hours and ive FINALLY realised my boonish mistake. Sorry everyone to waste your time it was me being a complete retard.

Basically on my shader at the top i wrote

///////////////////////////////
Graphics by Sniper-Wolf
///////////////////////////////

and i fixed the problem by making it

///////////////////////////////
//Graphics by Sniper-Wolf
///////////////////////////////

just two simple charecters "//" :oops:

Thanks for the response on this, it was driving me mad. Im very greatful and will continue to use this site becuase it owns. If anyone wants to try out this map im working on email me at mr_bishy@yahoo.co.uk
Happy mapping :shock:

maybe send me the file (jpg prefered) by mail and I'll give it a try!? What kind of brush (patch mesh?) did u apply it to?
